I sure hope this guys did more than break some glass; security guard is going to feel a lot of pain for this one... doesnt matter if that guy was running with the whole damn store being pulled behind him, can't shoot at all for this one. Before the tsunami Japan was harder hit then we were, China infused $4 trillion into their economy when we did the stimulus package...just so you know of the $700 billion in allocated funds only about $300 billion was tapped and with the interest that corporations paid back we may have made money(it hasn't been calculated it was +-$20 billion). Spain is in financial crisis, Greece defaulted, Ireland has almost defaulted(probably because their 2% corporate tax rate, which arguably creates a massive amount of jobs)...the US debt is $14 trillion and our annual GDP was in 2010 $14.2 trillion(according to the World Fact Book) ...our debt to GDP ratio is one of the lowest in the world, with a larger country and economy comes more problems. To say that we have 11% unemployment and most of those people are now covered by government pay outs(they made it 36 months from 24, that one I'm not sure on) ...we're still not in any real trouble.

And to return to the issue of the Apple pulling it....the First Amendment has been shown in court cases to not protect illegal or harmfully illicit speech such as shouting "fire" in a crowded theater...this is essentially the same thing. And for those shouting about the Fourth Amendment(I think it was only one person) illegal search and seizure does not apply(via <i>Katz</i> and other cases) in situations where illegal activities are occurring, driving while intoxicating being illegal.
I hope that they trace the IP's and find that somebody somehow crossed state lines and then transmitted the data, therefore violating Federal law(as opposed to state) and allowing the Justice Department to get involved.

then why did apple cripple the 13" macbook pro's with ****** resolution then?
I'd have pulled the trigger on a 13" MPB if screen resolution was higher... But now I'll likely be happier with an 11" Air with ThunderBolt. Maybe I can get a 500GB SSD in there by the time it's released, then I'll have all I want (for now).

This just threw a spanner into my plans !
I've got a late 2007 non-unibody MBP - the "ultimate" which I've been updating as much as possible (Hybrid SSD 512Gb drive, 4Gb memory, etc etc) - I love my MBP but my applecare warranty just ran out last month. Which, I thought, was plenty timely so I could get the new MBP that just refreshed - quad core, 16Gb RAM seems like a LOT more power !
But, I didn't "jump" immediately - I always wait a couple of months to see what issues develop with the product line (the 17" range seems to have some graphics issues evidently, which seem to be resolved now) - BUT, with this rumor, do I plump down $4k for a maxed-out MBP now or wait until this new case design ?!?!?!
My current MBP is working great. The keyboard has a sticky "D" key, but apart from that, its been the best laptop I've ever owned, and the second longest I've owned before a refresh (the prior record holder was a Sony Vaio PCG-V505BX which I used/upgraded/refreshed a full 5 years before needing to upgrade !)
So what do I do ? I wasn't planning on buying the MBP until next month, after I got back from vacation...

but i thought half the point of TB was that you would only need one output from the computer, and since we don't have any TB displays (or anything for that matter) how do we know that the ports are limited to one display?Displays are at the end of the chain. I believe there is a passthrough for additional displays as well.
You do want additional outputs to avoid the annoyance of unplugging displays. This will be more of an issue on the Mac mini and Mac Pro. I can imagine instances where the displays might not come back at all.

Have anybody seen a benchmark which compares the core 2 duo with the actuall core duo?
I can only see benchmarks between core 2 duo and AMD CPU's and standard dual core Pentium 4 cpu.

Core 2 duo out so far is a desktop chip being compared against other dektop chips. The Core Duo only came as a notebook chip (with one version as a very low power server chip, Sossaman)

No one else has yet mentioned that the Airport Extreme is currently reflecting a 1-3 week shipping period (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/1.RSLID?mco=B842E400&nplm=M8799LL%2FA), while the Airport Express (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/1.RSLID?mco=7D88DA55&nplm=M9470LL%2FA) still says it will ship within 24 hours on the Apple Store Online. It would seem that it is the Extreme and not the Express to be getting the update.
That makes sense if Apple is going 802.11n-draft. The Extreme needs -N support so the mystery box has something to talk to.

I too am exempt. We don't clock in, but do put down hours worked on our contracts (because that is what the customer wants). Functionally I am an hourly employee, because if I do not work a full 40 hours I don't get 40 hours worth of pay.
From that description, you don't sound like an exempt employee to me. I'm not a labor lawyer, but if I was in your shoes I think I'd be reading up on the subject. There are rules that employers are supposed to follow.
What I don't get is if I did 40 hours worth of work, but in 35 hours I still would only get paid for 35 hours. I thought being on salary would remove that.

i cant possibly phantom why ANYBODY would possible rate this negative. Its a new iPod (in my favorite color) thats the same price and has the same specs as the original, and money goes towards AIDS. :) If you dont like the color dont get it. If you think more money should go toward AIDS then ten dollars, the do something about it and donate money out of your own pocket.

Im with you dude...I see NO reason that apple couldnt pony up for a legitimate GPU. Especially since the 27iMac has alot of pixels to push...heck, the base GPU should have a GB of frame buffer at least. Ahhh, base 6850, 150.00 upgrade gets you a 6950 :D

Wow apple is attempting to get the gaming market. I love my dual monitor amd eyefinity combo on my PC is good to see now apple computers may get a taste of this great monitor setup. FYI thunderboat daisy chaining will only duplicate monitors it will be unable to produce three different monitors. My only question is what video card do they have running it. If it it not a 69XX or above or Xfired it will lag horribly.
