What was the exact story on the two switchers? What did they have before and what do they have now? Are they power or casual users?

So I have 2 of these minis, both connected via MDP to HDMI and using analog audio out for stereo.
Both minis, running 10.6.6/10.6.7, both 2.53 Core 2 Duos, come up from sleep without the cursor showing. It's there, menus pull down and highlight as I move invisible cursor, but lose it on the desktop and it's impossible to find again.
Restart always fixes it.
Both Have an external Keyboard/Mouse as I use them for media servers (one Bluetooth, one hard wired).
So, any ideas?

Would the MacRumours Forums fancy playing another forum at a game of Halo Reach?
This topic is just to find out if there is any interest.
Thanks :)

Hope they realize soon that releasing Xcode updates shouldn't bee 4Gig download every time.
They did... with Xcode 3 and Snow Leopard. The updates would actually show up in Software Update. Xcode 4 is a regression.

that's because it isnt animated yet. ;)
that's just the animatic, which is a rough layout of the action. that way I can work out the timing, etc before doing all the animation. it's easier to change things BEFORE they're done ;)
I start animating soon....VERY soon.

Hopefully this can stem the tide of apps that sell for far below that they're worth... as an app developer, this is great to see :)

I have a 3 1/2 year old 20 inch iMac and have had no problems with it. I notice the past several months or so when I quit it at night it shuts down within 3-4 seconds. It hasn't always been this way and I am not complaining, but just wondering why it's a fairly recent occurrence. It starts up using the normal amount of time but the shut down is almost instantaneous. Everything is up to date with the latest version. I just wonder why it shuts down so fast. I bypass the 10 second wait when shutting down by holding down the shift and option or maybe it's the shift and command buttons. I don't want to try it right now by shutting it down. Does everybody,s computer shut down this fast or is it just me?
Thanks for a reply

This is definitely the oddest thread title I've read here. Subsequently, this is probably the weirdest topic as well.
I have no answers. Sorry.

I'll go against the grain and say keep what you have.
You stated you want to cut down on costs, so unless you are a business doing some funky accounting tricks, your equipment is already paid for. And it sounds like since you do Apple dev as a profession, you may kick yourself in the future for having sold the Mac Pro for a ****** Windows box when you pick up another contract.
I also do contract work, and wouldn't dream of selling my personal equipment I use for business unless it was literally a "sell the Mac Pro or lose my apartment" kind of deal.
It's not sell apartment, but I do need the cash. Plus I simply cannot justify a high-end mac pro and a high-end macbook pro. I'll do work on one or the other but not both (impossible to sync 200gb of virtual machines). I kind of temporarily bought both because I couldn't make up my mind, knowing that if I try both eventually I'll sell the one I don't use later on. The problem is, I'll use the macbook pro for a few days hear the fans go on 100% for an hour or want to play a game and copy everything and switch to the mac pro. Then I have to be on-site at a client or just get tired of the home office and copy everything back to laptop and the cycle repeats itself.
But the reason why I keep leaning on macbook pro 15 + gaming rig, is because I like the idea of the primary computer being the portable macbook pro 15. So I have all my work always and it's fast enough for work. And have a gaming pc so I'm not overheating / abusing the laptop for games (unless I'm traveling :)

Yes, just re-install and choose the correct drive. :) For the other drive, just delete everything or re-format it.

BOINC doesn't support OpenCL or CUDA beyond being a 'gateway' for the apps that use BOINC to enable it. The apps themselves that run in BOINC are the ones that must do the legwork of incorporating OpenCL or CUDA support into the programs. CUDA support on the mac is very limited compared to windows, so you don't see any MacCUDA clients. OpenCL is very promising, but it's still a pretty new technology so I don't expect programmers to really use it much for the time being, but as time goes on that will improve. Also with CUDA much farther along on Windows, which in turn is a majority of BOINC users, there isn't much incentive to use OpenCL yet. OpenCL is 10.6, and 10.6 is a small percentage of Mac, which in turn are a small percentage of BOINC users.
See the problem? Again this will change over time, but for the moment don't expect much GPGPU support in BOINC for macs.
Let's hope this changes!

So my Iphone 3gs says it has no service I phoned Telus and he transfered me to apple and the person said i could get it replaced for $250 I was wanting to get the iphone 5 when it came out. So i was wondering if it would be worth it at that price and sell it when the iphone 5 comes out or should I just buy a Iphone 4 now.... I dont think a 3gs would sell very good when the Iphone 5 comes out.... so what do you people think would be a good route to take
If you get the 4, get the white one. It's selling at a far higher price than the black.
Get the white, sell it when the 5 comes out. And pay the minor difference.

so it seems to be fixed... we cleaned it out and vacuumed it and it was still super loud, and then it went to sleep and was STILL super loud, and for some inexplicable reason when it came out of slumber it STOPPED making stupid sounds. we rebooted and no stupid fan sound.
result = NO EXPLANATION. (Divine intervention!)
Thank God.
