Ehh, purposeful or not (as a sabotage)...not good news for iPad competition:( Which isnt good news for us iPad users...Apple needs constant pressure to release revolutionary products.
The iPod hasn't see ANY competition in the past 10 years and they seem to be doing fine with pushing that product line.

People are incredulous. They want / expect revolutionary products every month. Get real! I know many of us have addictions to Apple like Whitney Houston has to crack but if you want your money's worth for each upgrade, let's give the company time to put out some new features.
I hope no new phone until 2013 and iPad 3 in late 2012. Maybe then we'll get a real upgrade.

i Don't think this switch to ARM will happen, but anyway i'm sure Apple will do it well like did in the past. Some platform just died tried to change cpu.

I would really like to see Apple have a laptop cheaper than $1,100, and I think there would be a definite market for the, especially for teenagers looking into getting a Mac. I know that's unlikely, but...
I don't know, I'm kinda expecting it. As seen in the past, I'm sure they'll drop to ~$1000. Maybe even cheaper once they get some of their R&D back and chip prices start to fall. Eventually I see a sub $800 laptop even. Maybe.

I think Merom MBP would be smart on a tuesday. Because Paris is more of a consumer expo, and I think the Nano promo is to get rid of old ones, so they can bring out 2nd Gen Nanos at paris, so if they annouce a MBP before paris, they will see a large increase in sales (because thatt

ROTF. Dated. That must be why the recent mobile industry event that Apple didn't sponsor nor attend voted iPhone the best phone on the market.
The iPhone 4 is dated. It has a single core processor, just 512 MB RAM, the screen is too small and it does not support 3.5G / 4G networks. The only spec of the iPhone 4 that is not out of date, relative to similar phones, is the screen resolution. The iPhone 4 is in its winter of life; not in its summer. This is not a bad thing, it is the nature of technology.
I don't have anything against the iPhone 4, I have one myself. But looking objectively at the technical specifications of other phones sold now, I have to say the internal design is dated.

Fortunately, you don't have to have Angry Birds installed before you install Angry Birds, or else you'd never get Angry Birds installed.
Unless the downloaded Lion allows you to make a physical install disc (or USB drive), then you'll have to install OS X before you can install OS X.

This is what Sammy, HP, LG, Moto, et al need to be competing against. They've already lost to the iPad. The war is over. Don't lose the next war against Apple's next big thing.

I do not use a continuously-connected Time Machine. I keep my TM backups on a drive that connects via USB and it normally resides in my fire-proof safe. TM is only active once a week (or so) when I decide to backup.
I know, all the Mac users who work their machines 24/7 are probably aghast at the idea of not letting TM have 24/7 wireless access. But maybe my technique will prevent the type of TM loss mentioned above... so long as I don't let Sophos run when my backups are going on??

My brother lives in Woolongong and he gets good Broadband speeds, I think his with unwired. You could always go and hang around near the uni and bludge off there wireless network.

How long have these read this way? Is this old or new? Does it have something to do with tomorrows' event, or nothing at all?

Too true. I have a Win2k app I've been developing which could use more than 4GB RAM - in fact more than 2GB RAM (Win2k won't let a process use more than 2GB for various reasons)....
Actually, Win2K Server and later can support 3 GiB of private RAM per process - there's a boot flag to raise the 2 GiB limit to 3 GiB.
Even with the 32 bit processors supporting more than 4GB RAM, does Windows support it? Microsoft has a habit of not supporting things unless "a lot" of people will use it.
Yes, boot Win2k Server and later with the /PAE boot flag - the entire physical RAM space (except for maybe a bit for I/O) is available to the system. Couple that with the 3 GiB flag, and you can use the memory.

I would hazard a guess that the thinner facade suggests a lack of optical media drives, or if it does have one, a vertical slot-loader. But I think what with flash drive or Internet distribution, optical media drives aren't really needed any more, even on a Pro machine.
If they made the MacBook Air External Superdrive bootable and compatible with any computer I would welcome the elimination of internal optical drives.
